Oh Deer - Stunning Glencoe Stag
While in Glencoe on our way down to Loch Etive following the river Etive, we came across these two stunning young stag's. There was no thought put in, we just stopped and I jumped straight out of the car with the D600 and the fabulous Nikon 85mm 1.4G. Not nearly long enough to get a shot from the road side, so I had to go ninja to get this - I didn't have my 70-200 2.8 at the time, which looking back is probably a good thing as if I had, I wouldn't have got this photograph.
The final fine art print resulted in me crawling threw the grass and reeds, popping me head up from time to time to make sure I was heading in the right direction, but also to make sure they hadn't made off. This shot was a fluke if I perfectly honest - As I popped my head up, he looked straight at me and I knew this was the one and only chance I'd get; so like TopGun, the deer was in my sights, there was no danger, so I took the shot!
This is without a doubt, one of my favourite fine art prints to date; the Autumn colours, soft dreamy blur to the background, the fact he's looking directly at me, and the pains I went through to get it; and yes, I did say 'oh deer' when I previewed the image on the back of the camera.
